What is the Junior Olympic Pacific Challenge Series?

ASA will be hosting anywhere from 15 – 25 Junior Olympic events leading to the JO Pacific Challenge Series Championship on two weekends this year. The 12 & 14U will be hosted the weekend of October 10th – October 11th in Fairfield, CA.  The 16’s, 18's & Gold will be hosted the weekend of September 26th & September 27th in Lincoln & Folsom, CA and will be a college showcase tournament. These tournaments will be targeted towards the girls 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 & 18 Gold “A” fast-pitch teams. All of the events will be hosted within California and Nevada. All California and Nevada teams are welcome to participate in the event, but if there are teams located in other states, they are also encouraged to play.

Each qualifying event must have a minimum of 4 teams per division. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of 4 games for the weekend, with 3 on Saturday and single elimination on Sunday. Some locations may offer you a 5 game guarantee.

The final standings and scores of each tournament will be updated, for most tournaments, on the official Pacific Challenge Series website, http://www.asatournaments.com, as well as what teams have qualified for the championship.

How do I qualify for the Pacific Challenge Series Championship?

The top two teams in each of the tournaments will receive a berth to play in the Pacific Challenge Series Championship. The exception will be with the 16, 18U and Gold teams, where the top 4 teams from each tournament will receive a berth. If you have already received your berth in a previous tournament, the berth will move down to the next team that does not have their berth. If you receive a berth at one of the qualifying events, you must accept your berth at the end of the tournament or forfeit that berth, which will then move down to the next team. The tournament director should provide you with a form that you will need to fill out at the conclusion of the tournament. If you do not play in any of the qualifying tournaments, you can still play in the PCS Finals, but you will have to pay an extra $50 to play in the Championship.

What if I qualify early and have a new team for the fall season? Is my team still allowed to play in the PCS Championship?

Yes, you have two options. Option 1 is you must have at least 5 players to stay in that division and play in the same age group they qualified in. Option 2 is if your team plans on moving up in the winter you can take that berth play in the PCS Championship in the next age group.
