What is the ASA Western Shootout Tournament Series?

The Western Shootout Tournament Series is a set of tournaments we will be offering throughout California, Nevada
and Hawaii to Men’s C, D, and E teams. This year’s Western Shootout Tournament Series will be different than in
years past. In previous years, we offered a direct berth to the ASA Nationals to the winning team of each tournament.
This year we will not be offering a direct berth to the ASA Nationals. Instead this year will we will offering direct berths
to play in the WSL / Miken West Coast Championship, which will be held the weekend of October 10^th – 12^th
in Sparks, Nevada.

The Western Shootout Championship will be held on July 26^th & 27^th. The divisions and locations are:

Men’s C, and D – Lincoln & Roseville, CA 

Men’s E – Sparks, NV

Every tournament director will also be setting aside $10 per team that plays in the qualifiers and splitting that money
with the top two teams from each division. Each location will plan on having a team social the Friday night before the
tournament. More details to come. All California and Nevada teams are welcome to participate in the event, but if there
are teams located outside of California and Nevada we would encourage them to come play also.

The final standings and scores of each tournament will be updated on the official Western Shootout website,
http://www.asatournaments.com, as well as what teams have qualified for the championship. Results will also be
posted on the message board.
 

How do I qualify for the Western Shootout and WSL / Miken West Coast Championship?

Each team that plays in a Western Shootout Qualifier will receive 200 points. The first place team will receive an additional
250 points. The 2^nd place team will receive 200 points. The 3^rd place team will receive 165 points. 4^th place will receive 125
points. 5^th & 6^th place will receive 95 points. 7^th & 8^th place will receive 75 points. 9^th – 12^th place will receive 50 points.
13^th – 16^th place will receive 35 points. 17^th and lower will receive 20 points.  

The top 4 teams from each tournament will receive a berth to play in the Western Shootout Finals. The 1^st place team from
each qualifier will get a WSL berth, but they must play in the Western Shootout Finals and the local State Championship to
retain the WSL berth. If a team plays in 2 Western Shootout Qualifiers they receive a automatic berth to the WS Finals. The
top 6 teams at the WS Finals, in each division, will receive a WSL berth. The berth will be handed down if a team already
has their berth.  

How do I sign up to play?

Go to http://www.asatournaments.com, click on Adult Slow Pitch Tournaments. Then click on tournaments. You can either
call the tournament director or click on the email address and send an email to the tournament director. Each tournament
director will need to know your TEAM NAME, Division, Contact Name and Phone number.

Rules? 

• Entry Fee – The entry fee may vary depending on where the tournament is hosted
• No new innings after 65 minutes. Any inning started will be completed
• 80 minute time limit will be used for Championship Game & If game
• One courtesy runner per inning – ANY player in the lineup may be the runner, but if that runner’s spot comes up to
  bat and they are still on base, the batter is automatically out.
• Teams may bat 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12 batters
• Teams may start or finish with 8 players. Less than 8 players is a forfeit. We will allow a 10 minute “grace period” for
  each teams first game ONLY. A team MUST start with 8. “Grace Period” is only to prevent a forfeit.
• Teams starting with less than 10 players do NOT take an out at the bottom of the lineup for “empty” batting order spots.
  Late players may be added to the BOTTOM OF THE LINEUP at anytime during the game.
• Injured player – Legal Sub OR one out, the FIRST time that spot in the batting order comes up.
• Ejected player – Legal Sub or out, for EVERY time that spot in the batting order comes up.
• Run Rule – 20 runs after 4 innings, 12 runs after 5 innings and 10 runs after 6 innings
• Men’s C -  5 home runs per game, per team
• Men’s D – 3 home runs per game, per team
• Men’s E – 1 home runs per game, per team
• ALL additional homeruns hit over the fence are always an OUT on that batter.
• Any “Rule Protests” MUST be made prior to the next pitch. Judgement calls can NOT be protested.
• Absolutely no throwing bats or equipment. The penalty will be an automatic ejection.
• Fighting, Taunting, Abusive language and/or loud profanity are strictly forbidden and are cause for automatic ejection
  and possible suspension.

How do I sign up for the Western Shootout Championship? 

As long as you have played in one of the Western Shootout Qualifiers, all you have to do is contact the tournament director at least one week prior to the Championship. The tournament directors are:
